Parenting Loved Not Spoiled Children

My name is Teri Dahl and I am the author of the content of my site, Loved-Not-Spoiled. Though I am the sole author, there are many people who have influenced what I know about raising children, and therefore must be credited with some of what you will read here.

My graduate degree is in counseling and I worked much of my career with children and families. I learned so much from the moms and dads who desired to know more about parenting their children in positive ways. And of course, the children I worked with generously contributed to my knowledge of how kids think, feel and grow.

My own family has been my testing grounds, because, as all parents, we are truly thrust into the role of parent without much training. I’ve learned so much from my two girls. I’ve also been blessed to have a caring husband who has learned a great deal about being a father from our daughters.

I don’t pretend to know everything there is about being a “good parent”. I do know that it involves great sacrifice and hard work, often not recognized or acknowledged until years after they’ve left home.

My little family nest is almost empty now. My oldest was recently married and my youngest is away at college. I know my job is far from over, but it is changing in ways that I can hardly keep up with.

I hope you will find the information on this site helpful as you enter parenting journeys of your own. Our children are such an obvious gift from God and it is my hope that parents everywhere recognize just how important they are in the process of raising compassionate, independent and loving children.

Teri
